Cessation of all rugby at Beverley RUFC until 2nd December

As you will all be aware Parliament has voted in favour of the Government’s 2nd national lockdown proposals aimed at curbing the increase in Covid-19 cases in England, which take effect from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December. In addition, the Government has announced the cessation of all community team sports during this period, which applies to Age Grade and Adult rugby activities at Beverley RUFC.

With effect from 5th November, we return to Stage A on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap. This means that no competitive or formal rugby activities can be undertaken until at least Wednesday 2 December, group training sessions are postponed at Beaver Park.  A maximum of two players can participate in socially distanced (two metres plus), individual training sessions outside without sharing equipment, but not at the club, until further notice.

Beverley RUFC Chairman, Brian Gilbert explained “following on from the decision earlier this week to cancel the 2020/21 league programme, and intention to enter into a national lockdown for the second time, this outcome seemed somewhat predictable, we support entirely the decision.  We are aware of some hopes/plans that the competitions committees may yet be able to facilitate some alternative short term optional competitions, but right now our focus needs to be on the well-being of our Beverley Rugby club family.  We will of course keep you updated, stay safe, we hope to see you all soon at Beaver Park.  Let’s hope is just a four-week lockdown.”
